Golf in Marbella, Spain
Costa del Sol glamour with the widest choice of golf on the coast, plus Puerto Banús beaches and nightlife
Marbella is the Costa del Sol's most complete golf base, set right in Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley. Los Naranjos, Aloha and Real Club de Golf Las Brisas sit minutes from your door, with La Quinta and Rio Real inside 15 minutes and more than 15 courses within a 30-minute drive. It pairs the coast's widest course choice with Puerto Banús glamour, famous beaches and nightlife — the luxury all-rounder of Spain's Costa del Golf.
Why golf in Marbella
Marbella sits at the centre of the most concentrated stretch of the Costa del Golf, and no base on the coast puts more golf within reach. The Marbella golf courses range from the mature parkland of Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley to Rio Real's valley running down to the sea and Guadalmina's classic layouts to the west — a genuine spread of styles rather than variations on a theme. Staying in the Golf Valley means several of the best are a five-minute drive away, yet a dozen more sit inside half an hour. Add a mild, long playing season and Málaga Airport just 40 minutes east, and Marbella works equally well for a serious golf week or a mixed trip with partners.
Most courses within reach — more than 15 courses lie within a 30-minute drive, the widest choice on the Costa del Sol from a single base.
On the doorstep — Los Naranjos, Aloha, Real Club de Golf Las Brisas and La Quinta are all minutes from Nueva Andalucía.
Variety of golf — tight Golf Valley parkland, the sea-to-mountain sweep of Rio Real and Guadalmina's traditional lines give real contrast across a week.
Mild, long season — spring and autumn are the sweet spot, and the climate stays playable across most of the year.
Easy airport access — Málaga Airport (AGP) is roughly 40 minutes away, with year-round flights across Europe.

Things to do near Marbella
Marbella is the most glamorous base on the Costa del Sol, and there is far more to it than golf near Marbella. The marina sets the tone — designer shopping, beach clubs and a famous nightlife scene — but a characterful old town, a six-kilometre seafront promenade and a mountain backdrop give the destination real range for non-golfing days and partners.
Puerto Banús — the glamorous designer marina, lined with superyachts, boutiques, beach clubs and the coast's best-known nightlife, a few minutes from the Golf Valley.
Marbella Old Town — a pretty historic quarter of cobbled lanes and orange trees centred on Plaza de los Naranjos, about ten minutes east.
The Golden Mile — the palm-lined promenade and beach clubs running from Marbella town to Puerto Banús, the heart of the resort's seafront.
La Concha — the mountain rising behind Marbella, with trails and viewpoints looking out over the coast to Gibraltar and Morocco.
Boat trips & beaches — Playa del Duque and the marina beaches, plus boat trips, sailing and watersports straight off Puerto Banús.

Marbella Puerto Banús
Puerto Banús is what sets Marbella apart from the rest of the Costa del Sol — a purpose-built luxury marina where the golf, the beaches and the nightlife all meet within a few glamorous minutes of one another.
The marina & superyachts — the waterfront promenade lined with superyachts and supercars is the resort's signature stroll, busiest at sundown.
Designer shopping — a dense run of luxury boutiques and flagship fashion stores makes this the coast's premier shopping address.
Beaches either side — Playa del Duque and the marina beaches sit right against the port, with loungers and beach clubs steps from the boutiques.
The nightlife strip — late bars and clubs around the marina give Marbella the liveliest after-dark scene on the Costa del Sol.
The waterfront promenade — the palm-lined quay, with Dalí's bronze rhinoceros and open-air cafés, ties the whole port together for an easy evening walk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Marbella is the most complete golf base on the Costa del Sol, with seven courses within about 25 minutes — Atalaya's Old and New, El Paraíso, La Cala Resort's three championship layouts and Higuerón Marbella. Add a mild climate, Málaga Airport transfers of around 40 minutes, and Puerto Banús beaches and nightlife, and it suits both serious golfers and mixed groups.
Marbella is roughly a 40-minute drive west of Málaga Airport (AGP) along the AP-7/A-7 coastal motorway, a distance of about 60 km. Transfers are quick and frequent, by hire car, private transfer or taxi, which makes Marbella one of the easiest Costa del Sol bases to reach.
A car is useful but not essential for a Marbella golf holiday. Atalaya and El Paraíso are only minutes west of the Nueva Andalucía base, easily reached by taxi or transfer, but a hire car makes the courses east toward Mijas — La Cala Resort and Higuerón Marbella — and day trips along the coast easier.
Marbella is excellent for non-golfers and partners. Puerto Banús offers designer shopping, beach clubs and nightlife; Marbella Old Town has cobbled lanes and tapas around Plaza de los Naranjos; and the Golden Mile, the beaches and the La Concha mountain trails fill the non-golf days easily.
Marbella's golf is mainly mature parkland and resort courses, led by Atalaya's Old and New, El Paraíso and the three championship layouts at La Cala Resort, with Higuerón Marbella adding a modern course by the town. Several sit within full stay-and-play resorts, and a number play to championship standard.
